Paris Weather is characteristically moderate, and is modified by the city’s Western European location and the influence of the Gulf Stream.  A relatively flat city Paris is situated on River Siene between an oceanic climate to the west and a semi-continental climate to the east, therefore enjoying rather mild winters and equally pleasant summers.

However, the biggest characteristic of Paris Weather is the frequency of the rainfall it enjoys; quite literally, showers can fall unexpectedly at any given time of the year, turning the brightest of days into rather murky affairs. As a general rule though, these sudden downpours tend to pass just as quickly as they appear. If you are planning on visiting Paris, carrying a small umbrella is advisable; you never know when you might need it.

While precipitation tends to be evenly distributed throughout the year, spring (March to May) is the driest season. Average annual precipitation is 607-641 mm (24-25 inches).  Thanks to the temperate leanings of the weather in Paris, snowfall is a rare treat: although snow does indeed fall for about 15 days per year, it tends to melt quickly and usually within 24 hours.

Summer is a particularly pleasant period. During this season Paris Weather remains warm throughout with temperatures reaching average highs of 25 °C and lows of 15 °C. Winters in the French capital tend to be rather chilly. However it’s only on the rarest of occasions that temperatures fall below freezing point, remaining between 3 °C to 8 °C for most of the time. During both spring and autumn, days usually follow mild to occasionally warm patterns, becoming cool during the evening.
